Three Weeks on the Road - Vienna, Barcelona & Rome
24 Oct, 2025Vienna – Back on the LGCT Podium
Bertram and his team kicked off in Austria for the Longines Global Champions Tour of Vienna, where he delivered a brilliant performance on his 9-year-old gelding Qonquest de Rigo, jumping two fantastic clear rounds to finish third in the CSI5* Grand Prix.
The class was a thriller from start to finish, with Philipp Weishaupt & Kilmister taking the win ahead of Harrie Smolders & Monaco, while Bertram claimed the third spot on the podium with a time of 42.31 seconds in the jump-off.
Barcelona – Team Ireland Brilliance
The next stop was Barcelona, where the final of the FEI Longines League of Nations series came to a conclusion. Representing Team Ireland, Bertram once again rode Qonquest de Rigo and delivered two brilliant clear rounds, one of only two riders in the entire class to jump double clear, taking his share of a €200,000 bonus for that achievement.
After the second round, Ireland and Great Britain were tied for first place, forcing a jump-off for the title. Billy Twomey set the standard for Ireland with a superb clear, but Scott Brash narrowly snatched victory for Britain, leaving Ireland to settle for a fantastic second place overall.
Rome
The final stop of this three-week tour brought Bertram to the Longines Global Champions Tour of Rome, held at the spectacular Circus Maximus.
Riding his longtime partner Pacino Amiro, Bertram produced a brilliant clear in the first round of the CSI5* Grand Prix, qualifying for the jump-off.
A single rail at the first part of the Longines double cost him a spot on the podium, still finishing in the th top six.
The Grand Prix was ultimately won by Harrie Smolders & Monaco, ahead of Gilles Thomas & Qalista DN and Maikel van der Vleuten & Beauville Z.
Looking Ahead
Bertram now has a busy schedule to close out the year.
He’s set to compete next at Sentower Park CSI2* before heading to the FEI World Cup qualifiers in Lyon and Verona (CSI5*), followed by Lier CSI2*.
